      October 1, – October 31, 2006: Exhibition „Le Feu“, 3éme festival international de photograpies shows large-sized volcano photography of Carsten Peter. Villa Tamaris, Seyne-sur-Mer, France

      October: GEO, Germany, 30th anniversary edition: Coverage about Lonnie Thompson, an influencial climatologist and glaciologist on expedition to the world's largest tropical icecap. Under extreme conditions at 18,400 ft he drills on the Peruvian Quelccaya icecap, in a race against the melting glaciers, to obtain valuable core data. His interpretations change our understanding of the climatic history of the tropics.

      September: US, Natural History Magazine: Climbing to Heaven: Global warming is pushing animals and plants to record altitudes. The highest known ecosystem on earth is located at almost 20,000 ft in the South American Andes, and you are overwhelmed by the diversity of species at altitudes between 13,000 ft and 18,000 ft: you find frogs, reptiles, tarantulas, scorpions, and cushion plants, which are up to 3000 years old. Even trees create scattererd forests at record altitudes there.

      January 18, 2006, 10.15 pm, ZDF: Abenteuer Wissen: Eiskaltes Risiko – (adventure science: ice cold risk) Dive into the inner, water filled ice caverns in the glacier of Mer de Glace. On July 11th, 1892 the drainage of such a subglacial water reservoir caused 200 deaths in the small village of St Gervais.
